Contract Negotiations

I heard on the radio today on my way into work that Cashman is sticking to the his typical plan of attack and will not talk to Jeter, Mo, and Girardi about their contracts until the end of the year, when they are no longer under contract.  This would be ok for me if we were talking about people other than Jeter and Mo.  Are you kidding me Cashman?  These two guys aren't your standard ball players and in my opinion should NOT be treated like they are.  These two are hall of famers, both lifetime Yankees, both possibly the best at the positions they are in, and both guys better not be wearing another uniform at the start of next season.  I understand setting a policy and following it, however these guys deserve to be treated like the best of the best because they are the best of the best.  Why would you even let them entertain the thought of playing somewhere else?

  1. I understand where you're coming from but I don't think the Yankees should have different policies depending on the players; that would set a bad precedent regardless of who those players are. It's better to have one policy and stick by that. No player is bigger than the team. NONE. Not even Babe Ruth.
