Granderson, Pettitte, Next?

By Aaron Ebbs

Hey guys and girls. This is my first post on this site previously I had my own blog Upstate Yankees. http://upstateyankees.blogspot.com/ Some of my off season coverage can be found on there. But all my new post will be found here.

Well we all know the Yankees have been very active at the winter meeting this week.

First we traded Brian Bruney to the Nationals for the first pick in the Rule 5 draft.

Then we traded Austin Jackson, Ian kennedy and Phil Coke as part of a three team trade to obtain Curtis Granderson.

Then Andy Pettitte resigned for 1 year at 11.75 mil. I would've preferred someone with a little more postseason experience but I guess Pettitte will have to do. :)

So whats next for the Yankees? Many fans are calling for Halladay, Or Holliday or even both. However I don't believe that's realistic.

Roy Halladay would more than likely cost us Montero and Hughes/Joba plus other prospects. I really do not think losing Jackson, Kennedy, Joba/Hughes, Montero would be best for the organization in the future.

Matt Holliday I guess is more realistic than Roy Halladay since it would'nt cost us any prospects. But Boras is looking for a Mark Teixeira type deal.

Another guy we have been linked to include John Lackey. Rumors say that we met with him today but we don't figure to be Strong suitors. I think he would be the best fit for this team because of his post season and big game expierience. But right now I see our rotation being Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte, Hughes, Joba and I am pleased with that.

So to answer my question as to what is next Im gonna say Damon or Matsui. They both want to be in New York so Im sure one of them will get there wish. Damon would be our left fielder and Matsui our DH. Heres what our starting 9 would look like with each of these guys IMO.

1. Jeter R SS
2. Damon L DH
3. Teixiera S 1B
4. Rodriguez R 3B
5. Granderson L CF
6. Posada S C
7. Cano L 2B
8. Swisher S LF
9. Melky S RF
