The New York Yankees and Andy Pettite have agreed to a one year contract. According to the Associated Press, the contract is worth around $5.5 million with incentives that can push it to around $12 million. This money is far less than the original $10 million the Yankees offered, but when push came to shove, Pettite wanted to remain in pinstripes. Here is the Yankees press release.
This deal solidifies the Yankees starting rotation. There is still argument that Joba should be moved back to the bullpen, and Phil Hughes should be given that spot in his stead. However, that situation should be settled during spring training.
