Two Brewers to the Bronx?

By Brandon Speck

You couldn’t turn the television on Wednesday morning without an earful of CC Sabathia’s record contract with the Yankees, but could one of his former teammates be headed to the Big Apple as well?

Platooning Milwaukee third baseman Bill Hall’s name has now surfaced in trade talks. The Yankees are reportedly interested in Hall as a utility player.

Two seasons ago, Hall started in center and was the toast of the town in Milwaukee, bashing 35 home runs and driving in 85 runs. Last season though, his averaged dropped to .225 as he appeared on only 128 games, rotating the third base bag with Russell Branyan.

In February 2007, Hall agreed to a four-year, $24 million deal, of which Milwaukee still owes $15.2 million.

No problem if you’re the Yankees though, even if you did just give Sabathia $160 million.

Hall had Lasik eye surgery recently and was quoted earlier this week as saying his vision is unbelievably better.

Sabathia is obviously the hottest name on the stove during these Winter Meetings, but if Hall rediscovers his stroke, he could be drawing the headlines during the four days Double ‘C isn’t on the bump.
